Streets as Studio

Where Art, Design, and Community Meet (The Exhibit)

About This Event

This event will showcase an exhibition of artworks and a panel discussion (on August 8) about the intersection of art, design, and community. Inspired by the O2 Arts Bursary initiative - which aims to bridge the gap between artistic expression and design practice – the event will feature discussions between artists Aron Hill, Shelby Charlesworth as well as landscape architect Lynnette Postuma of O2. This event will unfold in two ways: First, there will be an exhibition of artworks created by Charlesworth demonstrating her research-based arts practice and its connections to process, material, community care and design. Second, there will be a panel discussion where Charlesworth, Hill and Postuma will share how visual art, landscape design and collaboration can create new possibilities for exploration and connection. Using relevant current projects as inspiration, the 2025 O2 Arts Bursary initiative explores the role of urban streets as bringing together communities by using research and data to inform the design and creative output. The panelists will discuss how cross-disciplinary collaboration in the creative field can strengthen art, design, and community.

Register for the Panel Discussion on August 8 Separately.
