Call & Response

Call & Response is an exploration of the sound of memory. Our presentation explores echoic memory and unlocking positive recollection of forgotten sounds.  Specifically, our case study focuses on the creation and installation of a sound emitting sculpture.  This sculpture recalls the trams that once ran in Calgary’s neighbourhood of Marda Loop.  The sculpture plays a series of unique songs composed specifically for this project using the tram bell as an instrument.  Included in the event is a joint talk by the architect behind the project and the composer, as well as a live musical performance.
