Designer and Artist Workshop
Bow Valley College's New Production Hub

About This Event
This small-group experience is designed for practicing designers, artists, and visionary creators across various disciplines who are interested in exploring the possibilities of virtual production. You will have the opportunity to generate and share your creative ideas to push the boundaries of Bow Valley College's new Virtual Production Hub. Come see how Calgary is becoming a home for the future of entertainment—and experience the magic for yourself.
Behind every blockbuster film, TV show, or video game lies a world of design and digital production that often goes unnoticed—yet these creative processes are what bring our favorite stories to life. In this exclusive tour and workshop, we’ll explore the hidden magic behind digital production and how it’s transforming human performance, with a focus on accelerating its creative use here in Calgary.
In May 2025, Bow Valley College launched its new Virtual Production Hub—the anchor of the Digital Entertainment Nexus (DEN). This event features an interactive tour of and workshop with the Hub, where participants will step inside immersive virtual environments. Highlights include demonstrations of motion capture technology, green screens, dailies room, and the centerpiece of the facility: a 35-foot volume wall integrated with Unreal Engine. You'll have the chance to work with members of the Bow Valley College DEN and Innovation & Research teams to ideate creative uses of the facility.
